EQUIPMENT LIST - PRE-PRODUCTION PLANNING

The list of equipment we will be taking with us to use:

Sony HD camera
We have chosen to use the Sony HD camera. We are going to use this camera because it is in HD and will create a better picture and image for us and display better for our audience on a screen as the iamges will be difined better making it look more professional. We are also going to use this camera because it is a heavier camera and therefore, will jolt and move around less we feel and be easier to use for our tracking shots. Hannah has also already used this camera on her AS film and so will know how to use it well and has had experience with the camera.




Tripod for camera
We will take a tripod with us when we are filming. The reason for doing this and bringing it with us is so that the camera can be held steady for out still shots as well as moving shots, e.g. panning tilting. We want to use this so our shots don't move around too much even though we will be on a moving train and so won't jolt and bounce around as much as if we were just holding the camera on the moving train.

Portable lighting kit

We will also be taking a portable lighting kit with us on shoot. We will be using this to enbale our shots and the picture on screen  to have the best lighting and look the best when displayed on screen. Last year on my AS film, we didn't use the lighting kit properly and the result of this was a very dark image on screen as well as a grainy image and so we will use the lighting kit to avoid this problem again as it did not look professional and we had to film again which we do not want to have to do.

Camera 
We will also be taking a camera with us when filming. We will be using the camera to capture still images rather than capturing moving images as we will need to make a poster for our film. By taking the camera with us on the day, we will have the location the same and the characters in the same outfits as on our film. We have not decided yet what camera we will be taking with us but we have available a 14 megapixel digital camera and may also have a college camera available for use if we ask.

Car
Another piece of equipment we will be using is a car. The reason for this is to use it as an alternative to a steady cam as the college has none available and we will use this for our flashback continious shot. We will have the camera out of the window and following our character along. When using the car though we have to think about safety and how we use the car. We will have an adult with a full driver's license driving the car to avoid any accidents and for legal reasons. We will also have to take into account traffic around us and pedestrians so we will be driving very slowly around the housing area. We may need to bring with us some signs saying about is filming to warn about us filming and avoid any accidents and confusion.
